Work History - Startups

GT/TE Technologies, Inc. 1999-2001 - Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Founded by Mike Garza, the company was focused on engineering and producing a car audio PC.  At the time, it was a novel idea.  I worked with Mr. Garza as principle design engineer taking his idea and building the first prototype device.  At the time, it was among the first known efforts to produce a working cost effective product.  Unable to get enough capital to mass-produce my design, the company changed focuses onto security software.  It was at this time I joined the company as Chief Technology Officer.  For the next two years I directed the company's product development, designed the key security algorithms, including T.U.R.N.E.R technologies, was charged with drafting patents, technical documentation, and building a development team for the company.  One of the first products I helped prepare for market, based on the security software I designed, was UpdateHelper.  UpdateHelper was an automatic Internet based software/OS security vulnerability detector and patch/update service.  At the time, the idea was revolutionary however was unable to gain much financial support as it was marketed.  Today however, most major security suites include this type of feature as a key aspect of preventive protection.

SymbiontWeb, Inc. 2002-2007 - Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

In the spring of 2002, I founded a series of startups that would become SymbiontWeb a year later.  The company operated as a research and development software lab focused on developing technologies to better enable software over the Internet.  After 3 years of exhaustive work, I created a full alpha operating system over the Internet called a WebOS.  Among the technologies which made possible the WebOS was an improved protocol standard for rich media transfer, secure network service, web browser enhancements for improved execution, handling and support, several dozen highly specialized extensions to ColdFusion allowing hardware interaction from a web page and additional functionality to the core of CFML, HTML and JavaScript.  During my five years at SymbiontWeb; I helped design, develop and manage the creation of a dozen products most of which were part of an Enterprise Manufacturing Software that including accounting, inventory, warehouse, customer service and production planning.  Not only did I manage the 3-16 person development teams, I often served as senior engineer/programmer.
